The sooner this pathology is detected, the sooner recovery will come.
Calculous prostatitis in men: what is it?
Calculous prostatitis is a complication of chronic inflammation of the prostate gland, consisting of the formation of stones (stones) in the excretory ducts of the prostate gland. The peak of this pathology falls on 30-39 years. This is associated with an increase in cases of chronic prostatitis, which develops against the background of sexually transmitted diseases.
The occurrence of this pathology in men aged 40-59 can be associated with prostate adenoma (prostate glandular tissue growth), and in people over 60 years old, it can be associated with loss of sexual function. Depending on the cause of formation, stones are true (primary) or false (secondary). Primary ones are formed in the ducts of the gland, and secondary ones pass through the upper urinary tract (kidneys, bladder and urethra) to the prostate if the patient has urolithiasis.
Calculous prostatitis is caused by inflammation of the prostate gland. Violation of the discharge of the prostate gland occurs due to irregular or absent sexual intercourse, as well as a sedentary lifestyle. Against the background of infection, stones form in a person, so the secretion in the prostate gland stagnates.
In addition, the development of this disease causes an abnormal backflow of a small amount of urine from the urethra into the ducts of the prostate gland during urination. For this reason, the salts in the urine crystallize, thicken and turn into stones. Prostate stones are chemically identical to bladder stones:
- oxalate (appears due to the formation of oxalic acid salts);
- phosphate (formed against the background of disruption of the synthesis of phosphoric acid);
- urate (salts of uric acid are formed).
Main symptoms and types
The main symptom of calculous prostatitis is pain. It has a dull and painful character and is located in the perineum, scrotum, above the pubis, sacrum and coccyx. The pain syndrome is aggravated by acts of defecation (excretion of feces), sexual intercourse, physical activity and prolonged sitting on a hard surface, as well as prolonged walking.
Patients often complain of urinary incontinence or complete urinary retention. Blood impurities (hematuria) or hemospermia (appearance of blood plasma in seminal fluid) are detected in urea. People suffering from this disease are characterized by:
- decreased libido (sexual activity);
- weak erection;
- Ejaculation disorder (discharge of seminal fluid during sexual intercourse);
- painful ejaculation.
In the absence of therapy, patients may develop complications in the form of:
- kidney disease;
- cystitis (inflammation of the urinary tract);
- infinity;
- abscess;
- urinary retention.
Treatment
Calculous prostatitis in men is treated with antibiotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In addition, vitamins are actively used in therapy to strengthen immunity, anti-inflammatory drugs, prebiotics (after taking a course of antibiotics) and other drugs. Sometimes surgery is used to remove the stones. This method is indicated when drug treatment does not give a positive result for a long time.
Physiotherapy methods used:
- magnetotherapy (exposure to a magnetic field);
- laser treatment (removal of stones);
- electrophoresis (use of current);
- EHF-therapy (irradiation with low frequencies).
Prostate massage with calculous prostatitis is strictly prohibited. The most effective method is crushing stones with a laser. Stones can be removed naturally in a few sessions. Sometimes the doctor prescribes exercise therapy in the form of gymnastics (physiotherapy exercises), exercises to reduce and relax the anal muscles.
